Positions Available / Volunteers Needed

Since the Military Heritage Institute is an all-volunteer organization, it can use your help in many ways; it doesn't matter if you are local or from another area of New York State. We need the help of Veteran and historical organizations across the state to promote the Museum, to provide displays, and to continue adding to our collections.

Right now there is a great need to staff the Museum. Work schedules can be tailored to fit your availability. Interested individuals should call the Institute at (518) 226-0991.

Current Volunteer Needs

Display shows and Museum promotion activities volunteer: Sets up tables at festivals, conventions, and other community events that promote membership and Museum information.

Administrative volunteer: Assists with maintaining Institute files and records.

Museum Store associates: Retail sales within the Museum Store. We have an immediate need for 3-4 individuals.

Docents

Docents are needed for the Museum. They will serve as museum interpreters, tour guides and instructors. Their duties will include meeting and greeting individual visitors, veteran organizations and student groups; leading them through the museum; and discussing the various displays that will be available for viewing. Experience is not necessary but interest and enthusiasm are important. A thorough orientation and training will be provided. Men and women are most welcome. Those interested should call Colleen at (518) 581-5100
